Welcome to Expedition Oceanus.

Expedition Oceanus Founders, Gary Larter and Rory Moore are embarking on a global expedition to research and document some of the worlds most remote marine environments aboard their 40 foot yacht 'La Cueca'. The initial voyage of their 18 month Expedition will last approximately eight months and take them the 7,000.00 miles from Mexico to New Zealand.

Beginning in January 2011, Rory Moore, a leading marine biologist and a professional underwater photographer, will lead the the marine study aboard research vessel 'La Cueca'.

Following in the footsteps of the pioneering explorations of Jacques Cousteau, La Cueca will be a unique research platform enabling multiple experiments to be performed on behalf of several leading institutions. These experiments could make a vital difference in identifying and learning what needs to be done to protect our precious oceans. Institutions participating in the expedition will have access to some of the most remote and diverse ecosystems on the planet where this pioneering research including the search for new species, can be undertaken
